Mandurah gets first taste of A-grade basketball for season

The Mandurah Basketball Association’s senior A-grade season kicked off with a mixture of blowouts and tight games on Monday and Tuesday.

The women’s teams opened their campaigns on Monday night, with Predators defeating Tropics 34-40 in the first bout.

But the tight game trend didn’t stick around for too long, with the Pen Pals dismantling Fast and Furyous 49-27.

The HP All-stars had too much spice for the Fury Fajitas to handle as they romped to a 55-16 win, while the Fury Crystals took down the YBC Slammers 47-19.

The All-stars sit atop the table after round one.

The men’s A-grade season tipped off with an absolute thriller between Fury Yeah the Boys and Buckets of Fury.

The match went down to the wire with Fury Yeah the Boys winning 45-44. South Mandurah Predators also took a victory in their first match, beating the Fury Suns 19-44.

The Fat Messes weren’t too messy on the court, taking care of business with a 44-40 win over the Peel Predators.

In the final match, the Fury Flint Tropics couldn’t handle the bad weather, with Lightning belting them 72-23 to move to first spot on the table after round one.
