Up and coming local hockey star Hunter Banyard helped WA to a fifth-place finish at under 13s state hockey tournament earlier this month.
Banyard took to the field representing WA Storm in the 12-team tournament, a team he helped buoy to a respectable finish.
Between playing for his local club in Mandurah, competing in the 7/8 A-grade for his Perth-based team YMCC and attending Como Secondary College in their specialised hockey program, Banyard had a heavy state training load to deal with.
His commitment to the sport saw him finish the 2016 season with a number of trophies as well as the leading goal scoroer for both WA teams and equal third overall in the state tournament. He missed out on top goal-scoring honours by just two goals.
