After signing up as a Bosch auto repairs outlet less than two years ago, Port Kennedy ID Automotive Repairs have brought home an award naming them the best new business in the Bosch car service network in Australia and New Zealand.
“We’re very pleased to get it, it’s a lot of hard work… Everyone feels part of it, everyone’s put a lot of hard work in,” owner Ian Daniel said.
Because Bosch’s main role in the motor trade is electronics, Mr Daniel hopes his business’s association will help them get ahead with training, data, and software, in preparation for the massive industry changes ahead.
“The way cars are going in the next 15 years, you’ll probably see autonomous cars on the road, which means they’ll be driving themselves around,” Mr Daniel said.
“Australia’s a little bit behind Europe as far as that goes, but by 2020 most cars will at least have stop-start technology.”
Stop-start technology is when a car automatically switches off when it comes to a halt, and then turns itself back on to go.
Mr Daniel said within 5 years Bosch would have increased their percentage market share by five hundred because of increased reliance on electronics in cars.
“There are big changes in the motor trade and cars,” he said.
“We’ve geared up for the future, and it’s coming quick.”
