Glencoe Primary School students had the chance to get their hands dirty in the school garden with the help of Bunnings Warehouse on Wednesday.
The initiative is part of the school’s Garden to Lunch Box project, that aims to provide hands on experience for the students with gardening and growing veggies to be used in the school canteen.
The project aims to encourage kids to eat healthy food and fresh produce as well as learning about the benefits of growing their own food and how to be water-wise in the garden.
Bunnings provided seeds, sprouts, garden beds, several fruit trees, a chicken coop and four chickens for the school.
30 students from years one to six had the opportunity to build a chicken coop, plant some veggies and water the garden with six team members from Bunnings Halls Head.
