MANDURAH masters athletes Jim Davis, Ossi Igel and Lynne Choate dominated the Australian Masters Athletics Championships held in Adelaide earlier this month.
Around 700 athletes gathered at SA Athletics Stadium to compete in the championships, with the Mandurah trio coming away with eight national titles between them.
The 82-year-old Davis competed in the 80 – 84 age group, less than a year out from a full hip replacement, and claimed a whopping five national titles.
He finished on top in the hammer throw, shot put, discus throw, weight throw and throw pentathlon.
Igel, 65, injured his lower back before the championships and still managed to claim three national titles.
He claimed wins in the shot put, discus and weight throw for the 65 – 69 age division.
Choate, a former multiple Australian champ, competed in the 60 – 64 age group and was unfortunately diminished by injury.
But despite being unable to train like she has in years past, Choate still finished third in her three sprints, earning a spot on the podium.
