A MAN was fined in Mandurah Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning for smashing a cyclist’s helmet camera.
When Owen Brooking Wihongi was asked by Magistrate Vivien Edwards why he lost his temper at the cyclist he replied “it was a hot day”.
Magistrate Edwards asked what the weather had got to do with it and Wihongi said he didn’t know.
Prosecution said Wihongi was driving behind the cyclist on February 9 at 4pm when he became frustrated and shouted abuse before pulling over and ripping the camera off the cyclist’s helmet.
Wihongi said he didn’t think the cyclist was allowed to film him.
He was ordered to give $100 to the cyclist and pay court costs of $169.10.
