UNDERSTANDING the concept of a leap year can be confusing for most adults let alone seven-year-old Summer Lewkowski who is celebrating her second birthday as an eight-year-old on Monday.
Summer was named after being born on February 29.
Her mum, Joanne Lewkowski, said her daughter’s birthday was always on the last day of summer, no matter what the year.
Summer said she felt special to be a leap year baby but did get fed up with the jokes she had to listen to.
“My sister says I’m the only two-year-old who can go to the toilet by themselves, it’s not very nice,” she said.
“I do feel special sometimes though.”
Summer’s birthday will be spent with some of her closest friends in a limousine.
“When it’s my leap birthday I have an extra special party but I still celebrate every year, but on February 28 instead,” she said.
