LOCAL Ultimate Frisbee player Anna Haynes has been selected to compete at the 2015 World Championships of Beach Ultimate in Dubai in March.
Haynes will captain the Australian Mixed Beach Ultimate national team which will compete against teams from 25 countries during six days of competition from March 8 to 13.
“Being named captain of an Australian team is a great honour and I am really looking forward to leading a great team at this event,” she said.
“Mandurah’s outstanding coastline has been the perfect training ground for my tournament preparation.”
Haynes has been playing ultimate for 13 years and this is her fifth time representing Australia as a player.
Australia will play 12 games over the competition on the sands of Dubai.
“United States of America are always the team to beat but we are up against some tough competition from Portugal and Ireland, too, who are coming off a very competitive season in Europe,” Haynes said.
