Foundation Christian College sent their 2018 Cambodia Mission Trip team off in style when they hosted their second “FCC Blast – Colours for Cambodia” Colour Run on Friday.
The event had over 100 participants, and raised $1000 to share with the orphanages the team will visit during the two-week trip.
College Principal Andrew Newhouse said the event was not only a great way to celebrate and farewell the team before they head to Cambodia, but it also added to the tally of funds the team can donate to Cambodian orphanages.
“Our College families enjoyed getting very colourful on Friday, and we even saved some powder for the end to really colour our team,” he said.

Mr Newhouse commended the team for their leadership and preparation for the trip.
“I call this team exceptional because they are being led by our amazing staff. Mrs Melissa Richardson and Sports Teacher Mr Kevin Lowe are our Heads of Middle School, and have visited Cambodia on at least 16 occasions,” Mr Newhouse said.
“They are being supported by fellow teachers Mrs Wendy Subke and Mrs Belinda Kennedy.
“The 15 students about to embark on a trip of a lifetime are students whose desire is to see lives transformed. They are willing to use their skills and talents to bless the young children they will meet, and this will ensure a great variety of fun and education will be shared with the children at the orphanages.”
Mrs Newhouse has been impressed at the extent families, friends and the community have gone to support the team, with team members conducting their own fundraising efforts for the past four months to pay for their trip.
“The team have been creative in the activities they have undertaken to raise funds. Some students rode their bikes to Perth and obtained sponsorship, others have done ‘odd-jobs’ for their neighbours and church families, and had garage sales. The weekly selling of chocolates, hot chocolate and cupcakes was very successful as well,” Mr Newhouse added.
