PFNL 2018: Waroona evens the ledger with Pinjarra atop the netball table

The Tigers went into the clash a game clear of their southern counterparts, but despite clawing their way back into the game after a slow start it was the Demons taking the win and squaring records up atop the table at 10-2.

Waroona landed the initial blow, jumping out to a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter on the back of some outstanding play early.

But the ladder leaders spurred into action in the second, dragging the margin back to just four points at the half time break.

Their momentum didn’t last, however, with the Demons escaping to an eight-point lead in the third, one they would hang on to until the end of the game for a 60-52 win.

The victory keeps their hopes of finishing with top spot alive, but the Tigers remain in first with a better percentage for the time being.

Meanwhile Rockingham moved to within a game of top spot when they dominated Mandurah with a whopping 77-29 victory

The Rams controlled the game from the get-go, and will now head into their game against the Falcons this week with the hopes of climbing into second or first.

South Mandurah go into that match-up on the back of a thrilling win over Halls Head, as Hannah Irving’s 22 goals helped Souths to a 40-36 victory.

The win keeps South Mandurah’s finals aspirations alive, as they remain two games behind the fourth-placed Baldivis.

The Brumbies held on to that two-game gap with a 48-31 victory against Centrals over the weekend, but will face a tough ask extending it when they tackle Pinjarra this coming round.

Baldivis’ reserves moved to within striking distance of a top four spot when they took down Centrals 39-23 in round 12.

The Brumbies led by just two points at half time, but pulled away in the second half to edge closer to the fourth-placed Pinjarra, who took a 54-40 loss at the hands of Waroona.

Meanwhile South Mandurah’s reserves remain steady in second thanks to a huge 73-35 win over Halls Head, while Rockingham’s undefeated streak remains in tact as they made it 12 straight with a 68-35 drubbing of the Mustangs.

Halls Head claimed outright top spot in the opens when they overcame the second-placed South Mandurah in a close call.

The Falcons put in a great third quarter to cut Halls Head’s lead to three at the end of it, but the Lightning steadied to win their 11^th game of the season and break the deadlock at the top of the table.

The result helped Rockingham – who toppled Mandurah 65-37 – climb into equal second sharing a 10-2 record with South Mandurah while Centrals moved off the bottom with their first win of the year topping Baldivis 45-24.

Pinjarra moved into the top four with a 51-43 victory over Waroona.
