Mandurah local Andy Michaels’ new album is being played in 46 countries at the moment.
The songwriter, singer and poet said the success he has seen from the Revisited release is far greater than anything he has experienced, since he started recording in 1999.
Michaels said the contemporary pop album, that was released in January, had been in the top ten indie album charts for Canada and Europe and received over 30 magazine reviews in Europe and the United States.
“I’ve just got off the phone on a one-hour interview in LA for the Jimmy Star and Ron Russell Show,” he said.
Clearly overwhelmed by the success, Michaels said he did not intend for the album to take off as it has.
“Twelve months ago I had the opportunity to write music for movies,” he said. “Someone liked my music in England and flash forward a year, I have a new album.
“I never thought my music would have broad appeal on radio.”
Michaels said he never intended to be a musician, but a car accident set him on his true path.
While recovering from the severe injuries he learnt to play guitar and put his musings and poetry into melody and song, he said.
The album was released two weeks ago in Australia.
