The newly-formed Coastal Cavaliers rugby team stands to benefit from some expert training and mentoring with three Western Force players set to take up roles in the club.
The Cavaliers are the amalgamation of the Mandurah and Rockingham rugby union clubs, which have come together to take on the 2018 Rugby WA Pindan Premier Grade season.

But they won’t be going it on their own, with a trio of Force players set to take up guidance roles as part of the WA club’s commitment to grassroots rugby.
Rockingham product Kieran Longbottom will return to his club of origin as part of the program, along with two more Force players who are yet to be announced.
A hometown hero, Longbottom has returned to the Western Force this season after four years in the English Premiership and the great clubman is likely to take on a leadership role at the Cavaliers.
While the trio won’t be taking to the field, Mandurah Pirates president Bevan Williams said it was great to see the Force playing such a large hand in local rugby.
“Having elite-level players pitching in for our clubs is huge for us, as it gives our players a chance to connect with them and see where they can go with rugby,” he said.
“It’s all about raising the profile of our sport here in Western Australia, and having this strong connection with the Force is a huge part of making sure we continue to grow.
“To have them backing our local players is extremely encouraging.”
Western Force head of elite performance Matt Hodgson said the linkage would have a positive impact on the players and the clubs.
“During my time as captain of the Western Force, I developed a real appreciation for the importance of club rugby in Western Australia,” Hodgson said.
“It’s here that young talent develops and the passion for the game is at its strongest.
“Making sure the Force players stay close to that passion, and give something back, is crucial to the ultimate success of rugby in WA.”
The Coastal Cavaliers kick off their season with a home game at Meadow Springs Sporting Complex on Saturday, April 7.
