Best-selling author Leigh Hobbs visited Comet Bay Primary School on Monday, as part of the school’s push to 'instill a love of books in children'.
Three workshops ran over the day, with all students getting the chance to learn from the prestigious author.
Comet Bay Primary School teacher Hazel Herd said the author was invited to the school to continue to spark an interest for children to read books.
“All the children really enjoy his books and we’re featuring him in the library as Author of the Month and Book of the Week,” she said.

Ms Herd said the students participated in structured workshops, where Mr Hobbs taught how he illustrated his lively book characters.
The students also watched a short animated film called the Old Tom, which Mr Hobbs created, based on his book character.
An English focus group at the school saw a need for students to focus more on reading, Comet Bay Primary School teacher Jodie Morice said.
“We felt that it was kind of dropping off a little bit...so we wanted to instill a love of books in children so they could take that with them,” she said.
Ms Herd said the school hoped its NAPLAN results would reflect their push in reading and literature, that kicked off at the beginning of 2017.
She said the school has introduced reading logs, with students receiving school certificates for high achievement.
Last year teachers took turns reading during the lunch break and the school bought new resources for the library.
“The students interest in reading has definitely peaked with all the interesting activities we have introduced,” Ms Herd said.
