Mandurah Baptist College’s fourth musical, Beauty and the Beast, is opening next weekend at the Lakes Theatre, Lakelands.
The students from years 7 to 12 have been working extremely hard since term four to rehearse and become the hilarious range of characters of this classic musical.
While bringing the classic tale to life students had the opportunity to build and strengthen friendships.
Students have been involved in designing costumes and sets, painting sets after school, and rehearsing twice a week this term.

Renowned stage combat professional Andy Fraser visited the high school recently to conduct a workshop.
He showed Ashley Garne, who’s playing The Beast and Joshua Peckover, who will be Gaston, how to perform the famous Beast and Gaston fight.
A highlight for the school’s drama specialist Kylee Retallack and music specialist Nerida Middendorp was watching the student’s confidence and passion for the musical develop over time.
They both agreed musicals were a lot work and required a lot of extra hours of the students on a regular basis.
The sets and costumes are now coming together, and the cast and crew are ready for the opening weekend, March 16-17 with matinee and evening performances.
For the first time for Mandurah Baptist College will be performing Beauty and the Beast over two weekends.
