“She has so much energy...we will definitely be kept on our toes,” he said.
He said Perissinotto had conducted the Perth Undergraduate Choral Society and the Basilica of St Patrick's choirs.
“We are really thrilled to welcome her to Mandurah,” he said.
Mandurah City Choral Society president Jannette Barrett said she was pleased with the outcome.
“I contacted some of the prominent people in Perth and through those people we came across Eva-Marie,” she said. “She’s such a dynamic music director.
“She trains us and helps improve our singing. We’re hoping to have her longer than a year.”
Ms Barrett said the new director was planning collaborations with other groups.
“We’re hoping to work with the Bunbury Orchestra for our major performance,” she said. “But that is still in the planning stages.”
The group rehearses with Ms Perissinotto on Monday evenings from 7.15pm at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre Dance Studio.
The choir, along with Perissinotto, will be singing Gilbert and Sullivan favourites at the annual Come and Sing workshop on Saturday, May 5 as part of the Stretch Festival.
