WA Cold Case Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 49-year-old man with the wilful murder of Sarah Spiers, who disappeared from Claremont just over 22 years ago.
Police will allege 18-year-old Ms Spiers was murdered on or about January 27, 1996, after a night out with friends in Claremont.
Ms Spiers telephoned for a taxi from a phone box near the corner of Stirling Road and Stirling Highway in Claremont just after 2am that Saturday morning, but when the taxi arrived several minutes later she was nowhere to be seen.
Her body has never been found.
Bradley Robert Edwards, formerly of Kewdale, was charged this morning following extensive inquiries by the Macro Investigation Team within the Cold Case Homicide Squad.
He is due to appear in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday, February 28.
Mr Edwards was charged with the murders of Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon, and other abduction and sexual assault offences in December 2016.
In December, police searched a house in Madora Bay which had been owned by Mr Edwards’ parents at the time of the disappearance of the three women from Claremont.
