Mandurah has started its count down to the 2018 Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games (APES Games).
The games run from October 28 to November 3 and will see more than 3000 competitors play in about 50 individual and team sports across four major sporting hubs in the city.
Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre, Bendigo Bank Stadium, Peelwood Sports Facility, the western foreshore and Meadow Springs Sports Facility will be just some of the venues set to host the various competitions on offer.
The WA Police Deputy Commissioner’s staff officer, inspector Kerry French said the games would provide something for everyone and was excited to compete in the disciplines of golf and rowing.

Local bushfire brigade volunteer James Foster and Mandurah SES communications volunteer Matt Marshall said they were looking forward to the games but so far hadn’t signed up to compete.
The event is expected to attract representatives from major emergency service providers in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands.
Competitors are expected to include members of the Police Service, Prison Service, Crime Commission, Aviation Security, Fire and Emergency Services, Royal Life Saving Society, St John’s Ambulance, Coast Guard and Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The City of Mandurah’s games officer Craig Johnson said the local government had worked hard over the last two to three years to attract the event.
The games add to the City’s list of high profile events secured over the last few years.
The most recent being West Coast Fever going head-to-head in a pre-season match against the Queensland Firebirds ahead of the Suncorp Super Netball season.
The APES Games take place every two years.
The City of Melbourne hosted the 2014 event with the 2016 games to be held on the Sunshine Coast.
Perth last hosted the games in 2004.
