Hundreds of people gathered at Mandurah’s eastern foreshore on Saturday to celebrate Kiwi culture at an official Waitangi Day event.
Crowds were entertained by both nostalgic and modern songs and dances inspired by the Maori culture.
Organiser Joe Matthews said she was overwhelmed by the turn-out and pleased with the crowds engagement on the day.
Waitangi Day celebrates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, when in 1840 the British Empire guaranteed Maori rights to their land and established the Maori people as independent citizens.
It is now celebrated by New Zealanders worldwide as a day of significance to the Land of the Long White Cloud.
Our journalist Caitlyn Rintoul was at the event. Check out some of her snaps in the gallery above.
