The Peel region’s aspiring young female cricketers received a boost to their skills and knowledge of the game thanks to a Come and Play session organised by the West Australia Cricket Association (WACA) at Lark Hill last Friday night.
More than 30 girls were put through their paces and given expert training by Western Fury player Rebecca West, former Western Fury player Emily Hessell and Evolution Cricket’s Brendon Diamanti.
All participants were shown several activities to improve their skills while looking up to their role models.

WACA Peel region manager Brodie Green said the session was a huge benefit for the players, who are all gearing up to play in the Peel Perth Scorchers under 13s Girls League which kicks off this Friday, February 16.
“We had around 35 girls attend which was fantastic to see and also great to see some new girls attend who hadn’t registered for a team just yet,” he said.
Four teams will make up the Peel Perth Scorchers under 13s Girls League, with a combined South Mandurah/Mandurah squad joining Singleton, Secret Harbour and White Knights Baldivis.
The league is still taking registrations for players.
