The Peel Junior Cricket Association’s young guns were on show when the organisation fielded a trio of teams at the Junior Country Week Championships in Perth over the weekend.
While the PJCA may not have snared the team success it was after at the carnival, it certainly saw some outstanding individual performances from several of its players.
The A-section squad opened its carnival with a loss to Eastern Districts, but followed it up with a rematch directly after where they claimed their only win for the campaign thanks in large to Jack Sears’ prolific 3/6 figures from four overs.
Sears backed up his stunning bowling with a team-high 38 runs from just 29 deliveries.
The PJCA’s under 14s A side took out two wins from their six games at country week, the second of which produced a prolific effort from South Mandurah youngster Wian Kruger, who tallied a stunning century with an unbeaten 102.
Reece Torrent was in red hot form with the ball, taking three wickets and conceding just a single run.
The 14s B crew also finished with two wins from their six games.
Jai Hanson produced a stellar performance in a win over Eastern Goldfields, taking 3/6 with the ball before top-scoring for the side with 16 runs off 44 balls.
