The Peel Aquatic Club’s young stars have returned home from the 2018 SunSmart Country Swimming Championships with some new silverware after taking out a bundle of medals at HBF Stadium in Perth over the weekend.
The club recorded a huge amount of success in the individual events at the tournament, taking home a whopping 29 gold medals, 21 silver and 21 bronze.
It also shone in the relay events, bringing four gold and five bronze medals back to their home base.
Heidi Gstaettmer was particularly impressive for Peel Aquatic with a stunning eight gold medals, while Luke Strbac took out four gold, three silver and one bronze over the course of the three-day event.
Overall, 66 per cent of Peel Aquatic Club members’ swims were personal best times.
Head coach Pat Stellino said the club was thrilled with the effort its swimmers put forth.
“We’re really proud of how all the kids swam – they had some really good results and every one of them put in an outstanding effort,” he said.
“To come home with so many medals is great and now the guys have something to show for their efforts.
“I think it shows we’re headed in a really good direction as a club.”
