A Mandurah man who admitted to stealing $30.01 of fuel was told he would have to pay $320.86 for the blunder in court on Tuesday.
Bradley John Hodgson represented himself when he appeared in the Mandurah Magistrates Court to face one charge of stealing on Tuesday.
The court was told Hodgson put 25.03 litres of unleaded fuel in his Holden Commodore at the Greenfields 7-Eleven store at 11.10am when he realised he didn’t have his wallet on him.
Without attempting to pay or informing staff, Hodgson got in his car and drove off.
The roof carpenter told the court he intended to reimburse the store when he received his next pay cheque but eventually forgot.
He said he had attempted to pay a couple of days before his court appearance but was told by staff he needed to speak to police.
He was fined $100, and was also ordered to pay court costs of $190.85 and to pay back $30.01 for the fuel.
