City of Mandurah councillor Darren Lee has overturned the law that prevents residents from playing with remote controlled cars on public land.
An election promise, Mr Lee had pledged to revoke the local government’s controversial decision in October, to ban residents from using remote controlled cars, boats and planes on public land without a permit.
City of Mandurah councillors voted unanimously in favour of Mr Lee’s proposed motion at a meeting on Tuesday.

According to the local law, residents who breached the regulations could face up to $5000 in fines and a penalty of $500 a day if the offence continues.
Of the four determinations under the Local Government Property and Public Places Local Law 2016 that were decided on, Mr Lee’s motion sought to overturn points three and four – which referred to remote controlled toys and animals.
Under the law residents were also be required to get council approval before taking any animal other than a dog to public spaces.
This issue gathered local, state and national attention, after council voted unanimously in favour of the determinations at a meeting on October 10.
