Queensland's top-performing real estate agents have been revealed with the winners of the annual A List competition unveiled in Brisbane on Tuesday.
Hosted by Ray White New Farm principal Haesley Cush, more than 100 of the state's top agents gathered at Victoria Park golf complex as Harcourts Kingsberry Townsville agent Julie Mahoney was announced as the No. 1 Queensland salesperson.
Using data supplied by PriceFinder, which is owned by Domain Group, the A List ranks each agent based on a combination of their sale count, total sales value and listing count compared to their market's average.
Judi O'Dea of Space Property Paddington was named the No. 1 city agent; one of only eight real estate agents to have made the ranking for five consecutive years.
"It means a lot to me," she said. "You have to say that there's a lot of hard work which goes into all of those sales, a lot of feeling and care.
"To have statewide recognition means a huge amount to me."
Having also won the 2015 top Brisbane sales agent accolade in the awards, Ms O'Dea said her secret to success is simple.
"You need ironclad persistence and a great frock," she laughed.
"I'm a lone well-dressed wolf but there's no show without Judi."
Currently in its fifth year, the A List is comprised of agents who work solely as sales people, with the aim of highlighting the industry's future leaders.
To be eligible, agents must have sold at least one property in Queensland in 2016 and had to still be working as a real estate agent in the state. Those in management positions or who owned a real estate business were ineligible for the list.
PriceFinder data found Queensland's top performing real estate agents were worth a combined total value of $3.4 billion in property in 2016, with one in eight properties in Queensland sold by an A-Lister.
It's a staggering amount of money and it tells the story of how just 2.2 per cent of all active agents managed to sell 12.4 per cent of all Queensland properties.
Mark Flinn of Ray White Port Douglas was named the No. 1 coastal agent, Melita Bell of RE Max Success Toowoomba was named the No. 1 regional agent, and Alexandra Porter of Coronis Aspley was named the No. 1 suburban agent of 2017.
Nyree Ewings of LJ Hooker Cleveland and Clint Hynes of Ray White Oxenford were also named as A List Excellence awards winners as both top 10 agents who are engaged and involved in their community.
PriceFinder data found one in eight properties in Queensland was sold by an A Lister in 2016.
A List awards spokeswoman Ashleigh Molden thanked Mercedes-Benz Brisbane and Pricefinder for their support of the awards to find the best of the best agents in Queensland.
"There's lots of awards in the real estate industry but the A List stands heads and shoulders above any other award as it compares agents from all agency groups using their sales data. You cannot nominate for this award," Ms Molden said.
