“The Forest Heritage Centre are in a unique environment on the Darling Scarp and visitors can enjoy their bush trails seeing an abundance of flora and fauna including many orchids that are sometimes hard to find elsewhere,” he said.
He said the rocky gravel soils of the region had created the perfect environment for orchids, providing an alternative must-see destination in Dwellingup other than the town’s water-based attractions.
He said most of the species could be found in the surroundings of the Forest Heritage Centre, including Donkey and Cowslip orchids.
He said other varieties such as Christmas Leek, Blue Lady, Purple Pansy, Scented Sun, Pink and Purple Enamel, Little Pink Fairy, Jug, Rattle Beaks, Red Beaks, Mosquito, Bird, and Banded Greenhood orchids can also be spotted around the centre.
The Forest Heritage Centre is located on 1 Acacia Road, Dwellingup. The centre regularly holds events, exhibitions and functions.
