The Port Bouvard Surf Life Saving Club secured a significant funding boost from the City of Mandurah towards the upgrade of their facilities on Pyramids Beach earlier this month.
On October 10, City of Mandurah councillors voted in favour of allocating an additional $200,000 towards the project, which will see the addition of a second storey to the existing club facilities.

The second storey, which has been on the cards since the club’s hub was first built in 2010, would include a function room, a balcony, a kitchen, a bar, and a multi-purpose training and conference room.
The plans also feature male and female toilets and storage space.
The club has also managed to secure an additional $1,550,000 towards the upgrade, which include a previous $50,000 donation from the City of Mandurah and a $300,000 grant from the state government’s Regional Grants Scheme.
“Given that the club has been so successful in securing $1.3 million in external funding and worked hard to fundraise an additional $200,000 it would be unfortunate for the development not to proceed from this point due to a lack of funds,” a report by the City of Mandurah read.
It is anticipated that the works will cost $1.75 million, including building works, architect fees, consultant fees and contingency.
Earlier this year, the Club also received a $12,000 donation from Personnel Employed at Alcoa Charity Help (PEACH) to purchase 11 brand new rescue boards to expand their patrol area.
