Pinjarra product Kamdyn McIntosh has a chance to claim football’s ultimate prize when he lines up for Richmond in the AFL grand final this Saturday.
The 23-year-old will be out to bring home a premiership medallion when his side takes on the Crows, after being named to a wing for the Tigers last night.
McIntosh is no stranger to being a Tiger, or to their yellow and black colours, or to their emphatic club song.
Having grown up playing for Pinjarra, before taking his game to Peel Thunder, the talented local had plenty of time to familiarize himself with the scene.
And now, just a week after his hometown Pinjarra Tigers claimed an emotional premiership win, he finds himself on the game’s biggest stage looking to carve his name into the record books.
Taken with the 31st pick in the 2012 national draft, McIntosh has had to overcome a number of injury hurdles on his way to playing 52 games with Richmond.
But despite facing that adversity, he’s been able to carve out a spot for himself in the side’s best 22 with his pressure and running ability the highlights of his game.
“They want me to cover more of the ground with my running ability,” he told Melbourne’s The Age newspaper.
“[Shaun Grigg] still teaches me how to read the play and position myself around the ground so he is stitching me up and teaching me a few things as well.”
It’s safe to assume the folks in the Pinjarra clubrooms will be cheering on their former son when he takes to the field on Saturday.
