With the school holidays on our doorstep, here’s everything that you need to know about what’s on in Mandurah.
Saturday, September 23:
- Roller Disco. Get on your skates to dance to great music, play games and win prizes. All ages welcome. BYO roller skates or blades and protective gear. No need to book in advance. Where: MARC. When: 3pm to 5pm.
Tuesday, September 26:
- Vacation Care: Critters Up Close and Disc Golf. Learn more about Australia’s incredible wildlife and get hooked on disc golf. Where: Halls Head Recreation Centre. When: 9am to 4pm.
- Intensive swimming program: 9-week long course starting on September 26. 30-minute swimming lessons every morning Monday to Friday. To book call 9550 3600. Where: MARC. When: Time slots between 8.45am and 12.40pm.
- Get hooked on fishing. A course to learn about fishing techniques, fish filleting, knot tying and more. All fishing equipment and bait supplied. Participants will get a certificate. To book a spot call 95356251. Where: Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club. When: 10am.
- Mermaid bookmark workshop. A course to learn how to make your own mermaid bookmarks. To book a spot call 9550 3650. Where: Mandurah Library. When: 10.30am to 11.30am.
- Pool Inflatable Sessions. These sessions are for kids aged 6 to 14 years and bookings are not required. Where: MARC. When: Two sessions between 1pm and 2.50pm.
- Cactus pet rocks workshop. Learn how to make your own cactus pet using rocks. Where: Falcon eLibrary. When: 1pm to 2pm.
- Koi-nobori: Japanese Flying Carp Craft. Make a trio of mini ‘koi-nobori’ flying carp kites, a traditional celebration of ‘boys’ day in Japan from cardboard and tissue paper. Where: Mandurah Library. When: 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
- Movies and Bubble Soccer. Catch a new movie release before going crazy with some Bubble Soccer Action. Ages 11 to 17. Where: Billy Dower Youth Centre. When: 8.30am to 4pm.
Wednesday, September 27:
- Pyjama Party. A free evening of stories and fun at MPAC starting on 5pm. There will be crafts, face painting and a light supper before heading to the auditorium for stories with authors Chris Owen and Sean Avery. Where: MPAC. When: 5pm to 7pm.
- Forensic Science Workshop. A make believe crime scene investigation with interactive workshops on fingerprinting, examining blood, bones and DNA. Part of Vacation Care. Where: Halls Head Recreation Centre. When: 8am to 6pm.
- Laser Tag in Lakelands. Try your luck in a free epic laser war event. Ages 11 to 17. Where: Ballard Meander Park. When: 11am to 2pm.
Thursday, September 28:

- Shaving Cream Art. Learn how to create magical marbled pages using using stencils, food colouring and shaving cream. Where: Falcon e Library. When: 6pm to 7pm.
- Intro to Barista Skills. Learn how to make great coffee with this free Barista workshop. Ages 15 to 25. Where: Billy Dower Youth Centre. When: 9am to 11.30am and 1pm to 3.30pm.
- Writing for Young Adults Panel. Join authors Meg Caddy, Deb Fitzpatrick and Meg McKinlay as they share insights into why they write for adults, their motivation and their passion. Where: MPAC. When: 3pm to 4pm.
Friday, September 29:
- Racing Day. Race in a Mobile Slot Car Racing Track, you may bring your own vehicle. Part of Vacation Care. Where: Halls Head Recreation Centre. When: 8am to 6pm.
- Pirate Day at the Mandurah Library. Ahoy me hearties, dress up in your best pirate outfit and come along for swashbuckling fun and storytelling. Where: Mandurah Library. When: 10am to 4pm.
Sunday, October 1:
- Free Zumba Fitness Party. Come down on the day and dance to some latino beats in the disco lights. There's heap of other activity planned so if even if Zumba isn't your thing. Where: MARC. When: 11:15am to 12:15pm.
Monday, October 2:
- Junk Craft. Learn now to make fantastic plastic creations from assorted recyclables. Plus an Indoor athletic challenge. Part of Vacation Care. Where: Halls Head Recreation Centre. When: 8am to 6pm.
- Caterpillar Pom Pom Craft. Create cute caterpillars sitting on a leaf using simple craft materials, including pom poms and googly eyes. Where: Falcon e Library. When: 10.30am to 11.30am.
- Jewellery Making. Join a beading class and create your own unique pieces of jewellery using a dazzling array of beads. Where: Falcon e Library. When: 1pm to 2pm.
- Tissue Paper Flower Bracelets. Create a pretty and colourful piece of jewellery for yourself or someone special using tissue paper and beads. Where: Mandurah Library. When: 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
- Rock Climbing and Cooking. Go indoor rock climbing and celebrate by cooking a feast. Where: Billy Dower Youth Centre. When: 8.30am to 4pm.
Tuesday, October 3:

- Recycling Facility Excursion. Learn what actually happens to the contents of your recycle bin once it has been collected from your house. Part of Vacation Care. Where: Halls Head Recreation Centre. When: 8am to 6pm.
- Bird Craft: Paper Hens. Create your own story with a puppet hen with dangly legs. Where: Mandurah Library. When: 10.30am to 11.30am.
- Turtle Stick Weaving. Create a simple turtle, using colourful wool wound around popsticks. Where: Falcon e Library. When: 1pm to 2pm.
- Swirl Gift Box. Create a beautiful box to fill with sweets, and no glue involved!. Cut out 10 of the same shape and when linked together, they create a magical gift box. Where: Mandurah Library. When: 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
- Scooter Comp with Ruckus Scooters. Free fun day of Scooter comps presented by Ruckus Scooters. All you need is a signed permission form. Where: Falcon Skate Park. When: 10.30am to 3pm.
Wednesday, October 4:
- Cosplay Day. Dress up as your favorite character and have your face painted. Part of Vacation Care. Where: Halls Head Recreation Centre. When: 8am to 6pm.
- Face Painting Workshop. Little Fairy Face Painting will be facilitating a face painting workshop. Learn some of the basic face painting skills and techniques with an opportunity to practice. Where: Mandurah Library. When: 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
- Art and Music Jam. Bring the noise with a music jam, or be inspired with an art session. Where: Billy Dower Youth Centre. When: 8.30am to 4pm.
Thursday, October 5:
- Mosaic workshop. Use ceramic tiles to make something beautiful. Part of Vacation Care. Where: Halls Head Recreation Centre. When: 8am to 6pm.
- Card Making workshop. Learn how to make a handmade card to brighten someone’s day. Where: Mandurah Library. When: 10.30am to 11.30am.
- Door Signs. Create your own door sign to put up in your bedroom door. Where: Falcon e Library. When: 1pm to 2pm.
- Masquerade masks workshop. Express your style crafting your own unique mask, be outrageous or secretive, use sequins or add feathers. Basic craft abilities required. Where: Falcon e Library. When: 6pm to 7pm.
- Intro to Barista Skills. Learn how to make great coffee with this free Barista workshop. Ages 15 to 25. Where: Billy Dower Youth Centre. When: 9am to 11.30am and 1pm to 3.30pm.
Friday, October 6:
- Spoon Maracas workshop.Children aged 4 years old and under will be able to learn how to make their own spoon maracas with plastic spoons and an egg. Where: Mandurah Library. When: 9.30am to 10.30am.
- Rockingham Environment Centre Excursion. Visit the Rockingham Environment Centre, a reptile workshop, recycle craft workshops, marine tanks of sea and fresh water creatures, butterfly house and more. Part of Vacation Care. Where: Halls Head Recreation Centre. When: 8am to 6pm.
- Paper City workshop. What type of city would you like to live in, does it gave a park, with swings or towering skyscrapers? Design your little space of that city, that one combined will be a mural masterpiece. Where: Falcon e Library. When: 1pm to 2pm.
- Origami Books workshop. Make a perfect book in miniature, using simple origami folding techniques. Where: Mandurah Library. When: 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
Saturday, October 7:
- Succulent Fishbowl Workshop. Learn how to grow, care for and propagate your own succulent fishbowl. Ages 15 to 25. Where: Mandurah Library. When: 2pm to 4pm.
