Mandurah Netball Association caps off stellar year with grand finals | photos

Some thrilling grand final results, perfect weather and a strong crowd capped off a successful Mandurah Netball Association season over the weekend.

Hundreds of the Peel region’s up and coming netballers hit the court chasing silverware on the MNA’s grand final day, which culminated one of the Association’s strongest seasons yet.

The Comet Bay Sports Club shone through on the day, claiming a win in the junior A1 division and the open division one, both against Flames.

MNA committee member Alex Shorter labelled the day a huge success for netball in the region.

“We had a great crowd and the quality of netball on display is some of the best we’ve seen,” she said.

“I think the sport is in pretty good shape in Mandurah, and the development pathways are really strong.

“Hopefully we can be even bigger and better next year.”

A number of individual awards were also handed on the day.

Sharon Bloome took out the MNA’s volunteer of the year trophy, while young gun Ella Sigley was presented the sportsperson of the year award.

The Hazel Cockram award, presented to the player who continuously represents the association with pride, was given to Kristy Scarle.
