A course to run over the coming school holidays aims to launch the careers of local “master chefs” by offering a unique “pasture to plate” experience that includes cooking instruction and adventure activities.
The nine-day course at Fairbridge is aimed at people aged over 15 who would like to learn to how to cook delicious, fresh and healthy dishes using local produce and develop an appreciation for the land.
The program includes basic to advanced cooking skills, master classes from a head chef and daily meal preparation, cooking and presentation.
Fairbridge also includes adventure activities like abseiling and rock climbing in the course.
The skills learned by participants could go towards a qualification in hospitality, providing students with the opportunity to launch a career in the industry.
