Local junior surfer Phoenix Wilson was riding waves of success when he took out the eighth annual ICEA Classic in Cottesloe on Sunday.
Competing in the under 13 event, the young star managed the win on small but clean swell conditions, selecting the biggest waves and executing more powerful turns to win the day.
Phoenix’s younger brother, Maverick, also competed in the same division coming in fifth.
The ICEA Classic is a day that celebrates Noongar culture by bringing together West Australians from all walks of life.
The festival encompasses surfing, skating, basketball, dance and cultural-based events.
Entertainment was provided at the festival by nationally known artist Thelma Plum, while a contingent of Aboriginal art was on display.
