Peel Thunder could recall a host of Fremantle talent for their finals campaign with a total 18 Dockers qualifying to play in the WAFL’s post-season.
Harley Bennell, Sean Darcy and Cam Sutcliffe headline a large contingent of Fremantle-listed talent that will be available as the Thunder eye back-to-back flags following their first grand final win in 2016.
Under new WAFL rules that were introduced after Peel took out their first flag with 17 Dockers on the field, the Thunder, along with West Coast alignment club East Perth, are restricted to fielding 15 AFL-listed players in one game.
To be eligible, a Fremantle listed player is required to be named for at least five games at league and/or reserves level for Peel during the season.
First-year Dockers Luke Ryan, Darcy and Brennan Cox could return to the side after lengthy stints performing admirably with the Dockers, while the possible additions of Sutcliffe, Matt Taberner and Harley Bennell could provide a huge boost for the Thunder.
The Thunder’s finals campaign kicks off with a clash against South Fremantle at Fremantle Community Bank Oval this Saturday, 2.15pm.
