Hawthorn Football Club legend Luke Hodge set for show in Mandurah

Hawthorn Football Club legend Luke Hodge has penciled in Mandurah as one of his first stops as he plans to enjoy retirement after a sparkling AFL career.

The superstar Hawk will touch down at the Mandurah Mustangs Football and Netball Club next month, just four weeks after hanging up the boots, to put on a show alongside West Coast Eagles champion Glen Jakovich.

Hodge will be regaling anecdotes from his playing days and fans will have the chance to meet and greet the former Hawthorn captain after the show.

The Mustangs will also be auctioning off a number of sports memorabilia items, with proceeds going to the club’s annual fundraising.

Hodge stands out as one of the all-time greatest players to ever don a Hawthorn jumper throughout the club’s stunning history.

Taken with the first overall pick in the 2001 draft, he won four premierships with the Hawks (three of them as captain) and picked up two Norm Smith medals along the way.

Three times he made the all-Australian team and won two Peter Crimmins medals as Hawthorn’s best and fairest in his glittering career.

He will finish with 305 career games under his belt following his farewell match in the season’s final round.

Event organiser Brennan Carlisle said it was a huge coup for the club to host such an established AFL superstar.

“It’s really rare to have someone like Luke Hodge in town and for fans to be able to chat to someone who’s so highly regarded in elite footy like that is pretty special,” he said.

“We’re really excited to have him and Glen Jakovich at our club.”

Jakovich, who will MC the night, is a West Coast legend having tallied 276 games of his own, winning two premierships and taking out four of the Eagles’ best and fairest awards.

The show will be held at the Bendigo Bank Stadium platinum room on Friday, September 22 from 7pm.

Tickets are $70 per person with a two course meal included and can be purchased from mustangs.yapsody.com/event/index/
