Assumption Catholic Primary School student Allanah Glatzel has taken out the inaugural St John of God Health Care Visual Arts Scholarship.
The Catholic Arts Office said they were thrilled to receive an exceptionally high standard of work from 23 Primary Schools in Western Australia, including the Year 6’s work.
Allanah was nominated for the prize by art specialist teacher Kate Capone and principal Kerrie Merritt through the Angelico Art Exhibition, which is currently on in the Forrest Centre, Perth.
“This scholarship recognised Allanah for her dedication and love for art as well as acknowledging her skills and commitment to the visual art program at Assumption,” Ms Capone said.
Allanah’s piece, called “Dancing Dreams”, was inspired by Pablo Picasso’s rose period and her love of her dancing days.
It will now be on display at the St John of God Hospital, Murdoch, for four weeks.
Allanah said she hoped it would brighten the day for all who see it.
