The Peel region’s peak tourism marketing body, Mandurah and Peel Tourism Organisation (MAPTO), has congratulated writer and director Ben Elton and the production team from the movie Three Summers on the world premiere of the region’s first feature film on 12 August in Melbourne.
MAPTO chief executive Karen Priest said Three Summers would promote the Peel region and is on track to become a new Australian classic.
“MAPTO provided funding support for the film’s production and formed an agreement with the film’s producers to ensure significant awareness of our region is achieved through the promotion and cinematic release of Three Summers,” she said.
Ms Priest said MAPTO is working with Tourism WA and key tourism partners to utilise the film’s publicity to promote the region and noted there has already been an increase in destination awareness since the Melbourne International Film Festival launch last weekend.
“We’ve been monitoring publicity and social media surrounding the film and Pinjarra and the Fairbridge Festival are already receiving mentions,” she said.

“With the film’s screening at CinefestOz this month and Ben Elton and the cast doing media tours around Australia prior to the film’s cinematic release, the Peel region will be exposed to wider and wider audiences.
“The Peel imagery has been captured so well in the movie trailer.
“We are sure Three Summers is on track to become a new Australian classic and a huge hit with audiences when it rolls out in cinemas from 2 November.”
Ben Elton said MAPTO had been on board from the start.
“When we set out to make Three Summers, MAPTO were just so brilliant and supportive, they really got involved right from the start,” he said.
“It’s an all Australian comedy shot on location at the Fairbridge Village in this beautiful part of WA and we’re ready to share it with the rest of Australia and the whole world.
“I’m so grateful to the people of Pinjarra, Mandurah and the outlying region for getting involved and making it happen. Our shared heritage is something we can all really celebrate.”
