Locals from across Mandurah were wowed by the sudden appearance of a waterspout off the coast of Wannanup on Saturday.
Witnesses said the waterbourne tornado sprang up quickly and then started to diminish in size after about five minutes.
The impressive weather phenomena lack the destructive power of their land-based cousins, but still put on a remarkable show.
Waterspouts are caused by unusual cloud formations and disappear quickly after they form.
