The Mandurah Dolphin Girl Guides have decided on something sweet for this year’s Guides service, with a cupcake drive raising funds for RSPCA.
The local Guides group, which organises activities and volunteer work for young girls throughout the area, regularly hosts events such as the traditional biscuit selling, but this year has hit on an idea that involves everyone.
“We chose cupcakes this year because it gives the girls an opportunity to get involved,” group leader Katie Butler said.
“There’s parts the girls can all get involved with, like the decorating and everything.
“And they all really love cupcakes, so there’s that as well.”
The chosen charity changes every year, but there’s always a strong reason for supporting.
“I think RSPCA is a worthy cause because it’s important to support their work, looking after animals,” Ms Butler said.
“Especially from a guides standpoint, the girls all really love animals, it’s something that’s pretty constant – there was a zoo trip earlier, and they were all very excited for that.
“So supporting this also gets them involved in something they care about.”
The Mandurah Dolphin Girl Guides cupcake stall will be held at the netball courts on Thompson Street on Thursday August 24 from 5.30pm.
Parents and friends are welcome to come along, as well as anyone who wants to support this worthy cause.
