Adventurescape in South Yunderup has been recognised as one WA’s best playgrounds, taking out top honours for design excellence at Friday night’s annual Australian Institute of Landscape Architects Awards.
Adventurescape, in Satterley’s Property Group’s Austin Lakes Estate, won the Play Spaces category, with judges saying it “exhibits strong attention to detail as it successfully embraces the character of the area”.
The $3.5 million adventure playground was designed with a farm theme and features a 35 metre flying fox, giant pig, a rope climbing challenge, swings, a balance beam, fence maze, old farm tractors and a custom designed 8.5 metre high windmill climbing frame and slipper slide, as well as climb-on timber and fibreglass animal sculptures.
The park which is over 4ha in size, also includes barbecue facilities, a large lakeside pavilion, picnic shelters and toilets and overlooks an existing lake.
Satterley chief executive Nigel Satterley said Adventurescape is a destination where families could spend the entire day and would be the perfect choice for family celebrations, playgroups and after school get-togethers.
“Every time you arrive at Adventurescape it is always packed with children and families enjoying themselves, Mr Satterley said.
“It’s wonderful to see.
“It really has become the heart of the community.”
