World-class soprano Lisa Harper-Brown has become one of Australia’s most acclaimed opera singers over a slew of huge productions at the Sydney Opera House, among others.
In 1992 the UK-born singer won first prize in the vocal section of the ABC’s Young Performer Award and in 1993, the Australian Singing Competition‘s Faigen Award, allowing her to study at the Britten-Pears School in the UK..
He first operatic engagements were for the West Australian Opera where, between 1994 and 1996, she appeared as The First Lady in The Magic Flute, in the title rôle of Handel’s Alcina and as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus.
She then moved on to Opera Australia, where she took on leading roles at A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Marriage of Figaro and many, many more, as well as a guest artist at Mozart by Moonlight in the Sydney Botanical Gardens.
In the UK, she appeared as one of the soloists in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and as a recitalist at St James’, Piccadilly and St Martins in the Fields.
She brings her wealth of talent to Mandurah Performing Arts Centre for a special Morning Melodies on Tuesday October 3 from 11am, with morning tea from 10am.
