Some early struggles mixed with a second half collapse saw Mandurah City fall 5-0 to a determined Perth Glory outfit at Ashfield Arena on Saturday.
Perth captain Daniel Stynes scored a second half hat trick in a dominant display, as Mandurah’s defensive errors and inability to create chances let them down.
Walter Scott opened the scoring for Glory on 25 minutes with a low driven shot from outside the area.
Mandurah’s best chance of the first half came five minutes before half time, when Nicholas Feely knocked Oliver McGee’s cross over the bar.
But Glory went 2-0 up just after half time when Yacoub Mustafa ran down the left wing and found Stynes, who curled into the net brilliantly from the edge of the area.
Stynes showed his class again to score Glory’s third on 67 minutes when he pounced after some scrappy Mandurah defence to slot past the goalkeeper.
The visitor’s day went from bad to worse as Thomas Straker was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a poor challenge on Michael Domfeh.
Stynes then completed his hat trick on 80 minutes after a sensational team move, before Callum Timmins made it 5-0 with two minutes remaining when he got on the end of a cross from the left wing.
The loss condemns Mandurah to the foot of the table.
They will look to bounce back when they take on Subiaco in a clash at home next weekend.
