Bursting out in glorious, glistening, 90's college movie-kindling rock, Ali Barter's debut LP A Suitable Girl is as strong a statement you'll find form any musician.
Continuing on the trend of strong women in music making their way to Mandurah, Grudge Events will host Barter during her One Foot In Tour at Rollercoaster - i.e Players Bar's new, shiny name.
The femme rock champion and outspoken social commentator is about to embark on her biggest run of dates yet, fully wrapping up the profound effect the album has already had on the hearts and minds of both fans and critics.
This upcoming tour follows on from the massive success of singles Girlie Bits and Cigarettes, both powerful statements of female confidence couched in a casual atmosphere and thundering riffs.
One Foot In tracks the emotional fall-out from being with someone who is waiting on something better to come along.
"The line ‘...and now I’m stripping for free’ was about me feeling exposed and a bit like a chump," Barter explained.
"The song is a lot of fun to play live and it’s helpful to remember these emotions when playing it because it gives the song a great energy.”
Debuting in the top 20 ARIA Album Charts, a triple j hottest 100 entry, a tweet from Yoko Ono and a string of sold-out shows across the country, A Suitable Girl has given a new generation of music fans something they need now perhaps more than ever, a voice that says simply and authentically, 'I get it'.
Make sure you get on board when Ali Barter heads to Rollercoaster (formerly Players Bar) on September 15.
Tickets are available now through Ticketbooth.
