More than 300 clubs across the State have received funding for new and shared equipment as part of the Community Sporting Club Equipment Scheme, including 25 Peel region sporting clubs.
The scheme offered regional and metropolitan sporting clubs around Western Australia a one-off $500 subsidy to spend on increasing or upgrading shared sporting equipment accessible to all club members.
In this round 281 regional clubs have received funds totaling $140,500 and 42 clubs in metropolitan Perth (totaling $21,000). More than 1300 clubs around the state have received funds for new equipment.
Subsidies for regional clubs are provided through the State Government’s Royalties for Regions program.
Administered by the Department of Sport and Recreation, the four-year scheme has granted around $1 million to metropolitan clubs and $1 million to regional clubs.
Mandurah and Peel-based football, soccer, swimming and cricket clubs among others recieved funds for sporting equipment.
