Member for Mandurah David Templeman has provided a $50,000 grant to Peel Community Kitchen on behalf of the state government in order to ensure the kitchen’s ongoing sustainability.
Mr Templeman said before the March state election he had sought a commitment to support the Peel Community Kitchen if WA Labor was elected.
"The Peel Community Kitchen has been operating for some years but has relied on the support of the local Council, local businesses and several individuals and community groups to keep it operating,” he said.
Mr Templeman said he was personally committed to supporting the ongoing work of the Peel Community Kitchen and was pleased the state government's grant would assist in ensuring the Kitchen's sustainability into the future.
He also said he would continue to support the Peel Community Kitchen through its various fundraising activities throughout the year.
Peel Development Commission chair Paul Fitzpatrick welcomed the announcement, and highlighted the impact the funding will have on the Peel recipients.
“This is an excellent result which will see groups in our regional community supported to fund their priority projects,” he said.
“It is excellent to see local groups who do such important work in our community – such as Peel Community Kitchen for example – receiving this funding.”
