The Mandurah Magic moved into first place on the Women’s State Basketball League standings after a pair of wins last weekend, and will look to keep their momentum in tact when they take on the Perth Redbacks in round 15.
The form
The Magic’s double-header of victories stretched their win-streak to eight games, while the Redbacks will enter this clash on a four-game losing skid.
Their form couldn’t be more different in terms of wins and losses, but the Magic and Redbacks both have individuals capable of putting up big numbers in the stat sheet.
Mandurah’s Carly Boag was dominant last weekend, piling up 25 points and 16 rebounds against Lakeside followed by a 14 point, 14 rebound performance against the Tigers.
For the Redbacks, it was Gabriella Clayton who shone in their loss to Stirling last week with 20 points, five rebounds and five assists.
On the season, Emilee Harmon has been strong for Perth averaging 18 points and eight rebounds per game.
Perth will need its top players firing if they are any chance of overcoming the Magic’s deep roster.
A win will…
Keep Mandurah on top of the ladder, and ensure they sit on a nine-game win-streak before taking on Perry Lakes in a blockbuster first v second clash next weekend.
Alternatively, a win would greatly boost Perth’s chances of making the finals and would snap a serious cold run of games.
