You know the old adage, you'll probably be disappointed when you meet your idol? Well like a scene straight out of Seinfeld, Kesha learned the hard way that fans should never request a hug from show creator Jerry, no matter how famous they may be.
While Jerry Seinfeld was giving an interview on the red carpet for a National Night of Laughter and Song, the 30-year-old popstar came to request hugs, which he refused three times. There is no sugar coating this, it is as awkward as it sounds, especially when you watch the exchange unfold for yourself.
"I'm Kesha, I love you so much!" she declared, with arms outstretched. "Can I give you a hug?"
Seinfeld responses with, "no thanks." Not once, but twice.
As a woman who has become a symbol for strength and persistence, Kesha continued her request asking, "Please, a little one?"
But the 63-year-old sitcom star brutally retreated backwards, before shutting her down with a, "yeah, no thanks."
After Kesha let out a sigh of embarrassment and very quickly exited the situation saying "Aw! He won't give me a hug", Seinfeld turned back to declare, "I don't know who that was."
"Kesha," the interviewer replied.
Trying to salvage his behaviour, Seinfeld turned back around to find Kesha, but realised she had already run off.
"Oh, okay. Well I wish her the best," he responded.
The much-discussed moment was revealed in a video shared by radio host Tommy McFly, who was interviewing Seinfeld on his mediation methods. He tweeted out, "LAST NIGHT @KeshaRose found out @JerrySeinfeld is not a #Hugger -- Is it hard to be a non-hugger in 2017?"

But Kesha's night was still "a dream come true," receiving a hug from another idol of hers, musician Ben Folds.

"I used to sneak into Ben Folds shows when I was 15 years old and stand way in the back and scream every word at the top of my lungs," she wrote about her exchange at the event hosted by Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness.
"I climbed really really tall chain link dangerous fences. I greased door men. I lost shoes and drove hours over state lines on school nights to catch a glimpse of this legend. Can't believe he's my friend. And such a wonderful soul. Some say that you shouldn't meet your hero's (sic). Sometimes that's true. Not in this case. I couldn't have been more lucky. Thanks for tonight."
Kesha has yet to make a formal comment on the #hugsnub. If there was an award for the 2017 cringe comedy moment of the year, this would be a strong contender. Perhaps it's time for Jerry to ditch the Seinfeld motto, "no hugging, no learning," to school himself in Kesha's music for a smoother second exchange.
