The Make-A-Wish Foundation stands to benefit from more than $10,000 raised by Murphy’s Irish Pub at their Charity Bowls Day held last month.
The Foundation has a backlog of wishes to grant for seriously ill children from the Peel region, with the money set to go a long way toward making dreams a reality.
The 11th annual installment of Murphy’s charity day saw a record 64 players hit the turf for an indoor lawn bowls amateurs tournament.
A hot breakfast welcomed the players before the competition opened, followed by a bus ride back to the pub.
A charity auction and raffle helped up the funds to a total of $10,098, bringing Murphy’s total of funds raised across the 11 years to more than $72,000.
Murphy’s directors and managers will be travelling to Queensland in September as a national finalist for the Australian Hotels Association community service award.
