The Peel Football and Netball League’s top four teams all picked up wins on the weekend.
Pinjarra returned to the winners’ list after a fortnight of losses with a 30-point victory over Halls Head on Saturday.
The Tigers had suffered consecutive losses to Waroona and Centrals but were able to consolidate their place in the top five with a victory of a spirited Lightning outfit.
After taking a blow in the opening quarter, Halls Head hit back with a four-goal second term to put them within nine points of the Tigers at half time.
But Pinjarra put their foot down in the third, creating a lead that would eventuate to be unassailable for Halls Head.
However, the result does highlight growth for the young Lightning, who suffered a 146-point loss to Pinjarra back in round two.
In total, that’s a 116-point turnaround on their previous performance.
South Mandurah kept their hot streak alive with an 11-point victory over the reigning premiers Baldivis at Baldivis Oval.
The Falcons trailed by three goals at half time but took control late in the game to post their sixth consecutive win.
They now sit outright in second spot with a 6-2 record, just one game behind Centrals who won comfortably over Rockingham on the weekend.
A whopping 19 goals in the final three quarters of the game buoyed Centrals to their seventh win on the season, with a number of players pitching in for the 73-point shellacking.
A total 11 players hit the scoreboard with goals, including six from Ash McGrath and four from Toby Gianatti.
The Rams weren’t without their bright spots, with Tyler Sutton continuing his stellar form in front of goals this season with a bag of four.
Waroona and Mandurah rounded out the weekend, with the Demons too much for a challenging Mustangs outfit.
Mandurah started the game in control but Waroona put in a tough second half to claim their fifth victory of the season.
