Dwellingup is set to host the Mighty Jarrah Trail Run on Saturday, August 19 with over 1000 participants expected to take don their joggers through some of the area’s picturesque scenery.
The brand new event will be conducted in conjunction with the popular Dwellingup 100 Mountain Bike Classic.
The run will feature three distances – the almighty half marathon, mighty 10km and mini 6km – with a range of age categories from nippers (10-plus) to super masters (60-plus).
The course will weave along Dwellingup’s scenic trails and through Nanga bushland, with participants of the half marathon to take on eight kilometres of Bibbulmun Track as well as a challenging ascent known as Big Bertha.
Trail running has exploded in recent years and is rapidly gaining momentum in Australia.
The Mighty Jarrah Trail Run will aim to set the benchmark for competitive trail runs in Western Australia.
“We’re extremely excited to bring two awesome sports together for a great day in Dwellingup. The feedback we’ve received so far about the addition of the trail run has been exceptional,” event director Dave Budge said.
“The Dwellingup 100 is the largest one-day mountain bike event in WA but we really wanted to cater for people who enjoy running as well.
“Dwellingup is such a beautiful spot and we’re glad that this year it will be experienced on foot and on the bike.”
