Mandurah’s most iconic band, the Mandurah Concert Band, is celebrating two decades of getting residents into the groove this year.
The band held a special 20 years event at the Mandurah Seniors and Community Centre on Ormsby Terrace in March, where past and present members met to put on a show together.
The band's former conductors also came from across Australia and overseas to deliver workshops, met the new musicians and have a piece of cake.
The event also saw the endorsement of Ross Retallick as a life member for his ongoing dedication and service to the band.
Mandurah Concert Band president Tony Schraven said the celebrations were a wonderful occasion for members to catch up with friends and celebrate the achievements of the band.
He also encouraged musicians from across the region from all ages and backgrounds to give the band a go.
“We are hoping to get more young people involved,” he said.
The band have put a call out for musicians in Years 7 to 12 from Kwinana to Waroona with a certificate equivalent to AMEB level 2 to apply for their music scholarship.
The scholarship last for a year and covers all the membership fees, instrument hire costs, and music workshops.
Applicants will need to fill and submit and application form before May 31, 2017.
