You are far more likely to become reunited with your furry friend if he or she is microchipped.
Do you love your pet?
Then make sure he or she is microchipped.
As much as they love you, pets can run away when they are frightened by things like lightning and fireworks, or they can become curious and wander.
You are far more likely to become reunited with your furry friend if he or she is microchipped.
A microchip is a permanent method of electronic identification.
The chip itself is about the size of a grain of rice and is implanted just under the skin.
Each chip has a unique number that can be detected using a microchip scanner. The number is recorded on a microchip database registry with details about the animal and owner.
Should your pet stray or become lost, vets, animal shelters and local councils can scan your pet for a microchip and contact you via the database.
Indeed, it is an obligation for all cat and dog owners to have their pets microchipped – large fines may be issued for failure to comply.
Greenfields Vet Hospital realises the importance of responsible pet ownership. That is why they will host a microchip day on May 21.
Staff will donate their time so the first 30 people who arrive on the day with a concession card will get a free microchip and registration for life.
After the first 30 concession card holders, the cost will be just $30. Call 08 9581 7766.
